Inside My Stash: Revlon

I don’t know if it’s because there are so many polish companies out there, but I don’t see many of us out here in the nail polish blogisphere writing about some of the more mainstream companies.  We love the underground, the sleeper hits, the ones you can’t get at your local CVS. A nearly daily occurrence for me is going into whatever drug store I pass by and looking at what kind of makeup and nail stuff they’ve got.  Usually the emptiness of my wallet prevents me from buying anything unless it’s really stunning, so I don’t buy many polishes from the mainstream companies, but they should not be overlooked. You never know what you might find.  Allow me to show you some of the Revlons in my stash.

Revlon Stone Edge

What’s This?  A taupe brownish gray cream from Revlon?  This came out if I’m not mistaken at least 10 years ago and I loved how different it was from what was out at that time.  I don’t think anyone was making cool stuff like this back then.  This color rivals OPI You Don’t know Jacques and Essie Mink Muffs.  They aren’t dupes by any means (I’ll post comparisons as soon as I get the chance), but they are in the same family if you like colors like this.

Revlon Jungle Fever

I rocked Jungle Fever so much you can see how empty this bottle is.  Now you know this is old since the name references the Spike Lee movie of the same name, which was released in 1991!  I still can’t think of anything out there that compares to this.  It’s jungle green, it’s silver, it’s gray, it’s shimmery.  Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!!

Revlon Vixen

This was Revlon’s take on Chanel Vamp.  One of many that came out when Vamp was the only color that mattered.  A vampy berry shade that back then I thought was super dark.  This was before vampy polishes looked almost black.  This wouldn’t garner any oohs and ahhs now but back then it was edgy – especially if you couldn’t afford Chanel!

Revlon Color Flip

An iridescent top coat that changes the color of anything you put underneath it.  If you can’t get your hands on a CND I’d say comb the dollar stores and see if you can get your hands on this baby.  I know you can’t really tell what this looks like on naked nails so here it is on top of Sephora by OPI’s What’s a Tire Jack

Color Flip over Shopi What's a Tire Jack?

Can you believe this unassuming bottle created such a cool effect?  I don’t feel so bad abut not having any CND’s with this baby around!
