OPI Touring America Fall 2011 Swatches & Review

Posted in Blue, Gray, Green, OPI, Purple on October 5, 2011 by ainamakeup

I was so excited to pick these up at My favorite creep nail polish spot, Beauty 35 here in the NYC.  I went on a mini spree and bought almost the entire collection.  I was broke, but happy!

French Quarter for your Thoughts

Very cool light gray creme.  Love this. Usually grays this cool don’t look so great against my skin tone, but I really think this works!

Get In The Expresso Lane

Love this.  A cool toned brown.  So dark, and lovely.  I never get tired of a dark polish!

Road House Blues

I needed a blue like this.  Blurple creme. I simply adore it!

A Taupe The Space Needle

I was afraid this looked exactly like San TanTonio, but it really doesn’t.  Definitely a great addition to this collection.

Suzi Takes The Wheel

Unusual shade. Sort of green, sort of gray, sort of muted.  Definitely one of my favorites in the collection.

Honk if You Love OPI

Beep Beep!  I know it’s not particularly unique, but at this point how can OPI create a fall collection that doesn’t include a vampy purple creme?

Uh Oh Roll Down The Window

Love This Green.  So many oilve/military greens on the scene this fall, and this one is right up there with the best of them.  And what a cute name.  Sadly this reminds me of every road trip from NY to Down south to visit family.  13 hours straight on I-95.  Ah memories…

I Brake For Manicures

Another gorgeous Vampy violet brown.  Oddly cool toned yet dark and murky and gorgeous!  I both love and hate colors like this because while we polish freaks can see the subtle differences in polishes like this, most people can’t.  All they’ll see is a dark polish.  Sad but true.

The formula on these were pretty good.  I did notice that on most shades, the color on the nail was much darker than the bottle color. and what’s with the chalkiness and weird texture when looking at the bottle of for example, “Suzi Take the Wheel”.  It never looks fully combined, but luckily that look doesn’t translate on the nail.

Note: these were bought and paid for by me.

Zoya Mirrors Collection Fall 2011 Swatches

Posted in Blue, Gray, Green, Purple, Zoya with tags on October 4, 2011 by ainamakeup

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post!  Work has been kicking my bootay.  I’m on day 9 of a 12 day run with no days off.  Anyway, I finally bring you part 2 of the Zoya fall 2011 collection.  Mirrors.

Zoya Tao

Tao is a medium gray shimmer.  I’m not over my love of gray’s yet and this one definitely fits the bill.

Zoya Jem

Well, it’s not “truly outrageous” but it is a jem of a polish.  a red based purple with gold shimmer.

Zoya Neeka

Pretty cross between blue, purple and gray with silvery shimmer.  I don’t know why my photos make the bottle look like there is some sort of flash or duo chrome in it.  There is not.

Zoya Yara

Love this murky olive/army green.  This one might be my favorite.

Zoya Marina

Gray blue with shimmer that’s more subtle than the rest of the collection.  Very pretty.

Zoya Nimue

Grayed out violet with subtle shimmer.  Lovely.  I love how Zoya puts their collections together using similar colors but making them just different enough to justify getting them all!  Evil and good at the same time.  You can pick these babies up at Zoya.com.  Enjoy!

These were sent to me for Review…

Essie Winter 2010 Swatches and Review

Posted in Essie, Gray, Green, Purple, Red on February 20, 2011 by ainamakeup

I’d been waiting for this collection since I first heard about it.  Just when I think I’ve seen every dark, gray or green, something new comes along and I just had to pick up my faves from this collection.

Esie Going Incognito

This green is more yellow based and while this was the color I was most excited about having, I don’t think it looks as nice with my skintone as I’d hoped.  I expected a muted green and this color is brighter than I thought it would be.  I still think it’s a gorgeous green and I’ll probably still wear it anyway.

Essie Luxedo

Luxedo is a deep purple creme. I know it’s not anything we haven’t seen, but I really like this dark violet shade.  No matter how many dark polishes I have, I always want more!

Essie Hot Cocoa

One of my favorites of this collection.  Comparable to OPI YDKJ or other brown/taupe colors out there.  This one seems to have more brown than gray.

Essie Masquerade Belle

Masquerede Belle is actually much brighter than this picture shows.  It’s definitely more wine in tone than say a blackened red like Wicked.  I don’t like many reds, but I’ve worn this one more than once.

Essie Smokin Hot

Love love love!  This smokey dark gray is my fave of the collection.  I think it’s different from the other grays I own.  It’s got some purple to it, and while I love light grays, my favorites are darker ones.  So happy to have this in my Gray collection.

The formula on these are great! I didn’t have a problem with application.  I’m not a fan of wide brushes, so I always appreciate applying Essie polishes.  I got mine a Beauty 35, my favorite beauty supply store in the city but you can get these at essie.com.  Until next time, addicts!

Two New OPI’s

Posted in Green, Matte, Purple, Shimmer, Uncategorized on December 13, 2010 by ainamakeup

I picked up two new OPI’s recently.  Take a gander at these babies!

OPI Teasy Does It

Out of all the sparkly colors in the new Burlesque collection I decided I only wanted one.  It wasn’t a matter of restraint, I just wasn’t feeling the majority of the colors. I’m not a big fan of Glitters and I love dark polishes more than the majority of the colors featured in the Burlesque collection.

OPI Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow Suede

I really love the Matte finish on this suede shade.  Green, matte, shimmery.  What more can I ask for?  I find it odd that they suede versions OPI releases are not remotely like their classic counterparts.  However unlike they are, the still have a special place in my heart.  And you get two polishes in one by using a shiny top coat!

OPI HTAT with Top Coat

It’s really pretty with top coat, but I think I like the dull, matte finish better.  People just don’t wear them enough!

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’ve been crazed at work.  We had a huge promotion over thanksgiving weekend and we are just now getting the last of the overwhelming amount of orders out.  I’m back and definitely plan on posting and updating at least twice a week if not more!

Nfu-Oh Haul

Posted in Blue, Green, Nfu-Oh, Purple with tags on October 22, 2010 by ainamakeup

I recently jumped on the NFU-Oh Bandwagon.  Holy Cow!  They have in my opinion one of the most comprehensive, well-rounded and creative collection of polishes out there.  All of the colors just wow me and I think the quality is outstanding!  I wish it was more accessible here in the US but fortunately you can get it on Fabulous street and There’s free shipping in the US!

Nfu-Oh 117

OMG.  I bought this one on a whim.  I didn’t realize how beautiful it was until I tried it on.  It’s a Blurple with blue flash shimmer.  I. Love. This. Color.  I wore this to the Make Up For Ever Pro Party and I received quite a few comments on it!

Nfu-Oh 568

Greens have really grown on me over the years, and like a good junkie-lemming I saw 568 on ALU and decided I had to have it.  I even bought the flaky she paired this shade with.

Nfu-Oh 056

I usually don’t layer polishes and I’m not a big glitter fan, but I decided this flaky glitter polish was so special I wanted to own it.  There is so much more where this beaut came from and if I had my way, I’d make them all mine!

Nfu-Oh is sold online on FabulousStreet.com for about $12 each, but I’m telling you it’s worth it.

Color Club Untamed Luxury Fall 2010 Swatches & Review

Posted in Brown, Color Club, Gray, Purple, Shimmer with tags on October 20, 2010 by ainamakeup

I have to be honest.  I hadn’t owned any Color Club nail polishes until this collection.  I saw the swatches on Scrangie, and I decided to give them a try.  I bought mine from Head2Toebeauty.com and for only $2.75 each, you can get them all!  I wish I’d tried Color Club sooner because this is a great brand!  The quality is excellent, the formula is great and the price is oh so right!

Color Club Soft As Cashmere

Have I mentioned how much I love gray.  Can’t have enough.  This is a great gray creme if you wanted to try a gray but didn’t want to spend a ton of money.

Color Club Ready To Royal

Dark and Vampy.  What’s not to love.  This is a great eggplant creme that looks almost black.  It’s not unique, but I still like it!

Color Club Positively Posh

This gray has more brown in it than soft as cashmere.  It looks similar to Merino Cool by Essie, but I haven’t compared the two side by side yet.

Color Club Jewel of a Girl

Beautiful!  Kind of reminds me of Dr. Pepper or a dark cream soda.  I really like it.

Color Club Nothing but Truffle

Dark chocolate shimmer.  I like the dark brown base and the subtle bronze toned shimmer.  This one reminds me of Root beer.  I’m sure we’ve seen similar shades before but of course that’s not going to stop me from buying!

The formula on these were fantastic!  Color Club definitely proves you don’t have to spend much for great polishes with great quality!

Essie Fall 2010 Swatches and Review

Posted in Brown, Gray, Green, Purple, Red, Taupe with tags on October 19, 2010 by ainamakeup

I’ve been really loving what Essie has been coming up lately.  I could not wait for this collection for Fall 2010.  Some of the colors are nothing new, but classic shades that I love.

Essie Sew Psyched

What can  I say!  When I first saw this color advertised I knew it would be a favorite and it does not disappoint! This is definitely in my top 5 for Fall.  Grayed out sage green.  This was the color I wanted to paint the walls in my bedroom.  Somehow This is not the color that’s on my walls

Essie Merino Cool

Taupe Gray that has a hint of purple.  Another fave.  It took me forever to find this at my favorite beauty store because it was sold out every time went to look for it.  There are tons of grays on the market now, but I can’t resist each one.

Essie Limited Addiction

This was a fantastic addition to the collection.  It’s bright but still very fall.  I’m not a typical red wearer, but I’ve definitely worn this more than once since I’ve bought it.

Essie Velvet Voyeur

Another color that is nothing new, but still one I’d gravitate towards.  I didn’t buy it initially but decided I wanted it and I got it!

Essie Little Brown Dress

Again, there are plenty of dark almost black browns out there, but like a true addict, I just had to have this one as well.  Browns are among my favorite colors.

You can get these on Essie.com of course, but I like to go to one of my favorite beauty booty spots, Beauty 35 in NYC.
