Zoya Mirrors Collection Fall 2011 Swatches

Posted in Blue, Gray, Green, Purple, Zoya with tags on October 4, 2011 by ainamakeup

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post!  Work has been kicking my bootay.  I’m on day 9 of a 12 day run with no days off.  Anyway, I finally bring you part 2 of the Zoya fall 2011 collection.  Mirrors.

Zoya Tao

Tao is a medium gray shimmer.  I’m not over my love of gray’s yet and this one definitely fits the bill.

Zoya Jem

Well, it’s not “truly outrageous” but it is a jem of a polish.  a red based purple with gold shimmer.

Zoya Neeka

Pretty cross between blue, purple and gray with silvery shimmer.  I don’t know why my photos make the bottle look like there is some sort of flash or duo chrome in it.  There is not.

Zoya Yara

Love this murky olive/army green.  This one might be my favorite.

Zoya Marina

Gray blue with shimmer that’s more subtle than the rest of the collection.  Very pretty.

Zoya Nimue

Grayed out violet with subtle shimmer.  Lovely.  I love how Zoya puts their collections together using similar colors but making them just different enough to justify getting them all!  Evil and good at the same time.  You can pick these babies up at Zoya.com.  Enjoy!

Zoya Smoke Collection Fall 2011 Swatches & Review

Posted in Brown, Gray, Green, Zoya on August 19, 2011 by ainamakeup

I just love this time of year when all the fall collections come out.  Spring collections are intriguing to me but nothing makes me more excited than the fall nail color and makeup collections.  The darker, moody nail colors appeal to me more and fall is when they really come out to play!

Zoya Codie

Deep Dark Greenish swampy brown creme. Reminds me of OPI’s Get in the Espresso Lane.  But it’s still not an almost black.  We’ll take it!

Zoya Dree

Pretty pea green.  Like the split pea soup in the can my momma used to make when I was a kid.  I hated that stuff, but I love this shade!

Zoya Jana

As much as I love Gray, it’s not unique anymore.  I still can’t resist a good fall gray, and this one is as good as any of the others out there.

Zoya Anja

Deep, dark and vampy, what fall collection would be complete without a color like this.  Again, dark but not an almost black.

Zoya Cynthia

Teal is again a big color for this fall.  Not as big as last year, but it’s here.  This one is more green in tone and really nice.  I’m definitely not over this trend!

Zoya Petra

Petra is a darker gray, more purple/brown based if that makes sense.  Things always look darker in the crappy lighting of my apartment and the fact that one of my living room lamps bit the dust this weekend isn’t making things better.

The formula on these were nice, just like what Zoya usually delivers with each collection.  You can pick up these beauties at Zoya.com.

Zoya Spring 2011 Swatches and Review

Posted in glitter, Gold, Gray, Green, Shimmer, Uncategorized, Zoya with tags , , , , , on April 13, 2011 by ainamakeup

Spring still hasn’t completely sprung here in NYC.  But that hasn’t stopped me from bringing the spring to my nails with the Zoya Intimate collection for Spring 2011.

Zoya Gemma

Super pretty green this pic does not do this color justice.  There is a super subtle flash of violet here.  I don’t think I have anyy other green like this in my stash.

Zoya Marley

I’m glad this collection has taken a more sophisticated turn from the super bright pastels of last spring.  Marly is the most pastel-ish of the lot.  It looks a little pink, a little white and a little violet at the same time.  I’m not mad at it!

Zoya Caitlin

Yay another gray!  This one has a tinge of cornflower blue in it and even though it’s a pretty dark gray, it still feels spring-like to me.

Zoya Dove

This one is one of my faves.  A much lighter gray than Caitlin and I think it’s a good contract against my skin.

Zoya Dannii

I think this is the most unique of the collection.  A purple shimmer wish silver micro glitter.  Not my usual style but definitely a fun color to wear, particularly for spring.

Zoya Jules

A light gold shimmer.  I don’t wear alot of gold but I think I would wear this.

All in all i think this is a nice collection of wearable shades that could work on anyone.  You can get each for $8.00 on Zoya.com.

Zoya Wonderful Collection Swatches and Review

Posted in Brown, Gray, Green, Purple, Red, Zoya with tags , , , , , , on July 25, 2010 by ainamakeup

I am so excited to have the opportunity to review this collection.  While I like shimmers, cremes are my true passion (vice, addiction..whatever) and the polishes of the Wonderful collection from Zoya for Fall 2010 truly are wonderful.  All of the following photos are two coats of polish with no top coat and the formula was fantastic.  Very easy application, even for a girl like me who never could color inside the lines.

Zoya Kristi

Kristi is a sexy red creme.  It reminds me of “Staggette” by Cheeky Monkey, but Kristi is more of a true red, and slightly less bright.  I’m not the biggest red fan, but I’d definitely wear this.

Zoya Shawn

I am in love with this green.  It’s brighter than an olive, more yellow based.  But it’s different from other greens like RBL No More War.  I was way late on the green bandwagon, but I’m making up for lost time and this green will be among the top of my fall polish rotation.

Zoya Cola

Cola is a reddish-brown creme.  Usually, when I think of reddish-brown I recall… The 80’s and early 90’s (yikes!).  When I was younger I used to dream of the dark, vampy, cool toned brown polishes that are now more available.  No one had really come out with deep browns back in the day.  At best you’d get colors similar to this one.  This shade looks much more modern than the “momish” reddish browns of the past – like Revlon “Toast of NY”.  I like it!

Zoya Burke

This is a nice, muted rose toned red.  If I had to go somewhere where I had to look “appropriate” I’d probably rock this.  I’m not ga ga over this shade.

Zoya Stacy

Nice classic vampy wine.  Really like this one!  It’s got a slightly muted feel to it. Stacy is definitely going in the rotation this fall!

Zoya Kelly

My Precious!  Dark, moody, totally fall appropriate.  I’m in love.  This is definitely my favorite of the collection.  I think gray is such a sophisticated shade to wear – and Kelly is no exception.  At first I thought this was similar to OCC’s “Dangerous” , but Kelly is a bit warmer, and I think a bit darker.  Really love this!

You can snag this collection on Zoya.com.  Happy Shopping!

Zoya Wicked Collection Swatches & Review

Posted in Bronze, Gray, Green, Purple, Red, Shimmer, Zoya with tags , , , , , on July 24, 2010 by ainamakeup

Hurray for Saturday!

Today Bring you the Zoya Wicked Collection!  This is one part of Zoya’s fall 2010 collection.  I’ll be reviewing Zoya’s Wonderful collection in my next post.  Overall, I really liked this collection.  I used two coats for each swatch and that was all I needed.  The formula on these were perfect!

Zoya Edyta

This is a beautiful glittery deep gray that almost reads antique gold/green in certain lights.  I think this one is going to be worn by me quite a bit this fall!  Hands down my favorite of the collection.  I’m in love!

Zoya Julieanne

When I first saw Julieanne, I thought this was just like Zoya Mimi, but upon further inspection it’s actually more blue based and cooler in tone. The shimmer is different as well.  In this photo it looks like a night sky full of stars like I used to marvel at as a child spending time down south for the summer.

Zoya Cheryl

I wasn’t sure I was going to like “Cheryl”, but I think it looks really nice.  The dense copper toned glitter is gorgeous in this polish.  The coppery/bronze/brown base seems pretty unique to me.  This one surprised me the most.

Zoya Kym

I’m not sure how to describe this color.  There are tinges of red, burnt orange, pink, copper.  Definitely a don’t have many colors like this in my collection.  Again, it’s not my typical style, but a perfect color for fall.

Zoya Carrie Ann

The brightest polish of the collection.  A light red leaning towards orange – at least in this pic.  The teeny tiny shimmer particles get a little lost in this pic, but trust me there are there.

Zoya Karina

A medium red shimmer.  I think my toes would like a few coats of this polish! I really like the small shimmer pieces in This as well.  This a great red option for fall. Definitely perfect for a dinner date.  Now I just need a dinner date!

You can get these beauties at Zoya.com.  I wished they sold them in NYC, but I can always dream, cant I?

Zoya Sparkle Collection Swatches and Review

Posted in Blue, glitter, Green, pink, Purple, Red, Zoya on May 4, 2010 by ainamakeup

Good Day, Addicts!

Today I bring you the Sparkle collection from Zoya. I’ve never been a big fan of Glitter (I grew up in the 80’s), but I have to say I really like these.  What I love the most is how easy these are to remove.  No soaking for minutes at a time, because the glitter in these are small and much more modern looking that glitters from my childhood.   Now, on to the colors.

Zoya Gilda

Gilda is a bright pink that reminds me of fruit punch. The small flecks of glitter look gold in some lights, and mimic the pink base in different light.  I’m not a big pink fan when it comes to my fingers, but anything goes on my toes.

Zoya "Mimi"

What a pretty purple.  The iridescent glitter makes this one extra special.  I think this one is my favorite of the collection.  In the bottle this looks more of a red based purple.

Zoya "Charla"

I particularly like this one because my best friend has the same name.  And her favorite color is blue!  This a pretty aqua blue.  I like the way the color looks, but I think it’s too cool for my coloring.  I love the blue/green subtle duochrome.  This color is serving “Little Mermaid”

Zoya "Nidhi"

Red Hot with glitter that appears both gold and silver.  My tastes are changing since starting this blog.  Getting the opportunity to try all different colors of polish is great because I get to step outside my usual style of dark polishes; vampy purples and browns and moody grays.   I really like this color.  It’s so summer.  All I want to do is sip frozen margaritas on a rooftop bar.

Zoyz "Ivanka"

This is my other fave.  I’ve become a sucker for greens and this one is no exception.  I like to think of this as “Charla’s” cousin.  Ivanka is green with slight tinges of blue while Charla is blue with slight tinges of green.  Love it!

The application on these was great.  I always do three coats of polish.  Some colors applied more opaque than the others, but this did not bother me at all.  Don’t forget. You can pick up these gems and other fabulous Zoya Polishes during their Polish exchange.

Zoya Flash Swatches and Review

Posted in Blue, Orange, pink, Purple, Red, Zoya on April 28, 2010 by ainamakeup

Hey there, Adicts!  I am so excited to bring to you the Zoya Flash collection.  These are a collection of bright but not neon cremes that have me ready for weekly pedicures and strutting around NYC in platform Espadrilles.   You should definitely pick up some of these especially since Zoya is currently running a Polish Exchange program through June 30th.  Take a look at these babies before you make your choices!

Zoya Jolene

Jolene is a light pink, almost Pepto Bismol like creme that usually isn’t my speed, but I think I like this color against my skin tone.  I usually go for neutrals but, Summer is coming and I want to be bright and colorful!

Zoya Maura

Maura is an orange/red creme.  Excuse the painting mistakes on my nails.  It was quite late when I did these swatches… This red has quite a bit of orange in it.  If you’re gonna wear red you might as well go bright red!

Jancyn

Jancyn sounds like one of those “trendeigh” names.  I keep thinking of moms on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, pushing their jogger strollers around Broadway and 72nd St.  This is a light, bright orange creme.  Again, not my usual MO but definitely summer!

Zoya "Dana"

Dana is a hot pink creme.  Again, it was late when I swatched these so I messed up my pinkie while trying to photograph it.  I’m not big fan of bright pinks.  This is nice, but I’m not in love.

Zoya "Robyn"

I think I’ll reserve this bright blue creme for my toes rather than my nails.  I love blues, but I just don’t think this looks so good against my skin.  It is a pretty blue, though!

Zoya "Perrie"

I think this one is my favorite in the collection, which surprises me because while I love purple, I don’t think I would have gravitated toward this shade.

The application on all of these polishes were good.  Not too thick.  And the polish applied smoothly, no streaking.  I used three coats on all of these, although the colors were opaque in two.

Coming up next post, my Sparkle collection swatches and review.  In the meantime don’t forget to take advantage of Zoya’s polish exchange program!
